Vintage Mexican Tonala Hanging Wall Plate Burnished Ceramic Pottery with White Deer and Flower Leaf Design Made in Mexico Clay Folk Art
This great old Mexican Tonala plate is 9.75" in diameter and 1.5" deep. It is a clay piece and has a wonderful design of flowers and plants and a white deer in the center. The border is accented with a detailed white flower pattern that repeats all of the way around the border. The painting is done in subtle and natural colors of gray, white, and a deep, rusty pinkish-red color. The back of the plate has an opening for a hanger on the top, with a white string cord. The plate is marked Tonala, Jal.
The plate is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. There are some small nicks and scratches here and here around the rim of the plate. Please see photos closely for condition - this is a really nice piece but does have little areas of paint loss here and there, and one area rear the top with a couple of deeper scratches - these are shown in detail in the last photo. Great old Tonala plate!
